June 8th
Unshowered, unshaven, erratic sleep pattern, and back in another dry dock. Naknek is empty for most of the year, until salmon season approaches. The town becomes a hive of activity as the fishermen prepare their vessels to fend off the wave of sockeye that rushes in when the weather warms. The temperature is still in the 40s during the day and low 30s at night – much too cold for the fish to run. It’s a late year… now we switch our gear from halibut to salmon, and wait, poised, prepared to pounce.

I just looked up jobs in New Zealand, and they have fishing boat jobs available in their summer--which happens to be when you return. Your adventures keep me inspire Dom! Dealing with many difficult life choices at present, and you remind me why we must travel! Safe journey brother.

theres a fire here in goleta.. right on the mountain side north of isla vista.. i always see people out in the streets taking pictures and think of you when i do.. you'd love the sunsets right now... but i guess alaska is probably way better.
